Hello and welcome, I’m Kathleen and I have over 18 years experience working in the field of mental health. In 2005 I qualified as a Counsellor from the University of Glamorgan (University of Wales) and set up a private Counselling practice. I have worked in a number of different mental health and wellbeing organisations and worked in a voluntary role at Cruse bereavement care.
Whilst working with you I will use a number of theoretical and practical counselling approaches. I want to help you to work through the effects the problem or issue is having on your life and well being right now, and I personally find that one approach does not suit everyone. My counselling approach means that you can sit and talk without being given well-meaning advice. I help you to try and find a solution to your problem. I can give you the time and space to come to your own conclusion without rushing or making hasty decisions. When you come into my counselling room, it is a safe and non judgemental place where you are able to talk freely and openly about what you want. Together, we find ways to help you to find the answers and enable you to move forward in your life once again.
At Crow Valley Therapies, I see individuals with a wide ranging list of issues or concerns and although I like to specialise in certain areas such as bereavement and mental health (depression, anxiety etc). I also work with people who live with a diagnosis of severe mental health disorders (schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, OCD etc). I am quite happy to discuss what you want your counselling and well being sessions to be about when you get in touch with me.
All counselling and well being sessions are £45 per session within opening hours and last up to 1 hour. A free consultation is included in the first session so please allow for extra time on your first visit.
The most important person in the counselling well being process is you. You are my priority and as such my practise means that your experience here is safe, confidential and ethical. This is the heart and soul of my practice as a counsellor. I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy). Occasionally, I will take on a client at a reduced cost, if that client is genuinely unable to meet the full cost of therapy and you are seeking help. Please contact me although I do have a waiting list, you can be added. In the meantime there are many free or donation only charities that may be able to help so please feel free to contact me as I have access to a database of charities.
If you feel that private counselling can help, or if you would like to know more please don’t hesitate to get in touch and ask a question or book an appointment. I look forward to hearing from you. Until then, take care.
